As the years have passed many things will occur to you that are so important but previously would have gone without being noticed. Without going into a long shpeel we as Americans are getting screwed over. The power centralizing affect of capitalism without morals and communism (humanism) throughout our government really makes life difficult. Many people will come undone at the notion that capitalism as we know it and communism are basically the same. OKAY OKAY....they come from very different origins but corruption and the undeniable lack of morals in both gives us nearly the EXACT same results. It's called centralization. This is when the power of the controlling body becomes more powerful and more disconnected from its base. The controllers also become much more self fulfilling. Mix that in with the love of money, which is a basic characteristic of capitalism and communism, and you get a miserable world to live in.
The more places you have to choose from to buy the necessary materials to do your work the better off you are as an individual. The fewer places there is the more the advantage goes to the "controllers". Look what has happened over the last two or three decades. Just a few years ago a fine example happened in my home town. We had a few places to buy automotive, truck, and tractor parts. As the companies that these dealers were representing became more "efficient" it amazingly became harder for the dealers to make any money. As the town grew it became a viable market for the really bad money grubbing parts chains, such as O'Reilly's Auto Parts. It just looks like the more they sell their souls the better off they are financially. Too bad for guys like me huh??
The old smaller stores that were "less efficient", would've been okay if it weren't for the evil tactics of a self fulfilling form of "business" practiced by O'Reilly's. They came blowing into town offering all manner of advantages to the folks. You could get anything you needed and for a better price. As soon as they ran the smaller stores out of business GUESS WHAT HAPPENED! Now they almost NEVER have the parts I need and that is not a joke. Oh, I can soup up my ride with lots of shiney plastic parts and smelly after thoughts but if you need something so simple as a 12point 10mm socket you or out of luck. Never again shall anyone, who is not part of the mainstream customer base, get what they need in my hometown without driving considerable distances to get it. I guess it's all my fault. I didn't stress to my help the importance of not losing anything I might ever need.
Of course, it isn't just my home town, it's all over the place. What we are left with is the fact that in a power centralized form of society, whether it be capitalism or communism (same results), we are left out in the cold. We are not important enough to supply parts to even though what we do makes the world go 'round. We have now taken a back seat to a cross section of self fulfilling entities who were born and raised to lock step into irrelevance. Now these behemoth parts companies cater to little punks who want bling or to maintain a "blingy" dingy ride. God save us from the NWO.

i think u are a fruit cake.............but i loves ya any way! Chicken man.....
ReplyDeleteI agree with your summation of the situation. What these places do is to take the Lions share of the market ergo few parts to the largest need. If u need a thing a ma bopper.........or the every more rare whatchamacallit then u are out of luck. The priceing is cheaper then the mom and pop but at mom and pop u usually can get all the parts u need. I prefer usually to deal with mom and pop ( m/p) as i know the big box stores will fold some day when people get tired of all the rebuilt crap from mexico that the BBS ( Big box stores) carry. I have talked to mechanics that are replaceing the part 2 and 3 and 4 times before it works correctly. Tell me OHHHH great TreeHugger, where is the savings in that? I save 3.58 dollars and spend 2 hours 3x replacing it? plus wear and tear on vechicle to get the "new part". I guess i am from the older generation that can figure out time vs savings vs cost........ or maby an old fool
In the event O'Reilly's has the part, it's typically the wrong part or it's defective.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends bought a steering box for his '66 Ford at a copycat franchise, and the P.O.S. literally fell apart as he was driving down the highway, nearly took his truck off the road at 50 mph!
Obviously there is a revolt brewing over the corporatist/socialist/fascist BS the stupid fools keep shoving on us. Give it time; there is a lot of work ahead of us, but "free" Americans have pulled through much more onerous situations.
Restore your liberty, restore your freedom, restore higher law and accountability, and the American ethic will revive!
